Lily Bee

Altered Photo Frame and a Scrapbook Queens Sneak

Hi everyone! Thanks for dropping by. I just wanted to share this altered photo frame that I made for Valentine’s Day. I have no idea who I’m going to give it to, because it’s way too girly for most of the people in my life! LOL! It just sort of evolved into something VERY feminine. I hope you like it. I used LilyBee’s Head Over Heels Collection, which I recently got in a kit from My Scrapbook Nook, and a $1 photo frame from Michaels. Regrettably, the kit is now sold out, so you can’t get it anymore.

I cut out these flowers from a Silhouette America cut file using my Silhouette Cameo. I love my Cameo!

The dressform is from Kaisercraft. It’s available at Scrapbook Queens in a set of 3. I’m looking forward to using the other 2. The ‘Love’ metal charm came from a kit that I got from my friend, Sherri Funk! If you’re looking for more inspiration, definitely drop by Sherri’s Blog.

I have been working with my kit from Scrapbook Queens. It features papers from Echo Park’s For The Record collection and Pebbles Tree House Collection. Here is a sneak of my first project! I’m going to reveal all my projects at The Scrapbook Queens crop on January 21. This crop is sold out, but if you are interested, you should give the store a call and get yourself on the waiting list, or you could sign up for February’s crop! Their number is 905-542-8811.

Happy New Year !Time to ring in the new year with a new challenge {and new format!} at The Paper Variety! We hope you’ll join us in our 2012 resolutions to create more :)

Our first January challenge is a color challenge!

Find out more, and enter the challenge over at The Paper Variety! I’m looking forward to seeing what you create!

I really loved this Black & White challenge! Here’s what I created. I just picked up Lily Bee’s Head Over Heels Collection through My Scrapbook Nook’s January Kit and it was so appropriate for a black and white theme! I also used papers by Crate Paper and Pretty Little Studio. To add to the black and white with a splash of colour theme, I edited my photos to black and white, but I left my daughter’s red outfit and her striking blue eyes in colour. Her eyes are so striking as it is, but with this type of treatment, they really stand out! The papers from Pretty Little Studio are digital papers that I downloaded from their Website and printed at home – super convenient!

Love Never Fails

I stamped my red heart with red paint and a foam stamp by Donna Downey on a transparency, and I added it to the layout on the reverse (unstamped side) where the colour was more consistent. I added a bling flourish by Prima on top and wrapped some black twine by May Arts around the heart. I also used Maraschino twine by The Twinery, white ribbon with bling by Harmonie and black and white striped ribbon by My Mind’s Eye. The ribbon slider is from my local scrapbooking store, Scrapbook Queens.

For my journalling, I incorporated the strip from the bottom of the paper into my sentence. The background paper is called “Smitten” from the “Head Over Heels” line, and that became part of my sentence. The rest of the sentence is made up of stickers by Glitz and Basic Grey.

I really love how this one turned out. Thanks for letting me share it with you!

I’m so behind on my scrapbooking!

One day I will be all caught up and I will be able to scrap whatever I want without feeling guilty about all the life events that I haven’t created pages for yet. Today, I can finally cross off my son’s first birthday from the list! … He’s three now, so I only have two more birthdays (of his anyway) to scrap, and I’ll be all caught up on birthdays! My youngest is only 1, and I have managed to scrap a layout for her first birthday. My oldest daughter has the scrapbook that’s the most behind. I started when she was three – so I started off already three years behind, and it just seems to get worse and worse! Someday, I will get there. I’m sure that most people, who don’t have endless amounts of free time are in the same boat.

Anyway, here is the layout. I combined many different products into this one. It’s a complete mish-mash of materials. Most of the papers came from a Noel Mignon Kit called ‘Jump and Jive’, some are from my own stash of papers and embellishments. I really wanted a wild-looking layout to go with my cake-covered mess of a son. He really enjoyed that cake! Let me tell you! The bear cake pan has become a tradition for one-year birthdays at my house. I have made this same cake three times, for all three kids. It’s about the size of two cupcakes. I usually make a plain cake and top it with butter cream icing that I make myself (really easy – I never use canned, it just doesn’t taste as good). My two older children devoured their cakes and basically ‘wore’ them! It was bath time afterwards for sure. My youngest daughter wasn’t very interested. She took a few nibbles and then tossed it on the floor! I hope to carry on this tradition and use the pan to make my grandchildren’s first birthday cakes.
