Altered Photo Frame and a Scrapbook Queens Sneak

Hi everyone! Thanks for dropping by. I just wanted to share this altered photo frame that I made for Valentine’s Day. I have no idea who I’m going to give it to, because it’s way too girly for most of the people in my life! LOL! It just sort of evolved into something VERY feminine. I hope you like it. I used LilyBee’s Head Over Heels Collection, which I recently got in a kit from My Scrapbook Nook, and a $1 photo frame from Michaels. Regrettably, the kit is now sold out, so you can’t get it anymore.

I cut out these flowers from a Silhouette America cut file using my Silhouette Cameo. I love my Cameo!

The dressform is from Kaisercraft. It’s available at Scrapbook Queens in a set of 3. I’m looking forward to using the other 2. The ‘Love’ metal charm came from a kit that I got from my friend, Sherri Funk! If you’re looking for more inspiration, definitely drop by Sherri’s Blog.

I have been working with my kit from Scrapbook Queens. It features papers from Echo Park’s For The Record collection and Pebbles Tree House Collection. Here is a sneak of my first project! I’m going to reveal all my projects at The Scrapbook Queens crop on January 21. This crop is sold out, but if you are interested, you should give the store a call and get yourself on the waiting list, or you could sign up for February’s crop! Their number is 905-542-8811.

Here is more of the mini book that I was in a tizzy to finish for my husband’s Grandmother before Christmas. I got it done in time and she loved it! She told me that she is going to try to live as long as possible in order to receive a new mini book every year at Christmas! Funny, because these mini books are taking years off of my life! LOL!

Believe Layout with Authentique, and a Challenge from SYC

We got these pictures taken of our kids with Santa Claus at my husband’s work holiday party. They turned out really well. I’m trying to track down the photographer so that I can get more prints.

I created this layout with one of the pictures. I used Authentique paper’s Wonder collection. I love this Christmas paper line. It’s very pretty and classic. I cut the rosette, ‘Believe’ title and the ‘Merry Christmas’ embellishment with my Silhouette Cameo. The snowflake on top of the rosette was cut with my Sizzix Big Shot with a Tim Holtz die. It is made out of a plastic mirror material.

My Mind’s Eye Challenge #29

Here is what I created for My Mind’s Eye Blog Challenge #29. This time I created a card and a layout. I’ve been making a lot of cards lately, very out of character for me!

My card design has a lot of layers. The band accross the middle consists of a ribbon with a strip of MME paper over top and another strip of ribbon on top of that! I hand stitched around the yellow and gold paper at the bottom and layered more embellishments on top for the sentiment. The pearls are from an MME pearl spray embellishment. I cut it up and used pieces of it in this random arrangement. I hope you like it!

My layout is less fussy than my card, although there’s still a lot of sewing on it. and I added the half rosettes for an interesting border. Overall, it’s a pretty clean look. I apologize for the bad pic. I’m going to take a better one tomorrow.

Here are some details about the challenge:

Design a layout or a card based on these sketches and use “brown” (sketches by Anam Stubbington).

Today is Remembrance Day / Veterans Day

Let us not forget those who server our countries during war and secured our freedom. I created this card for today. How are you remembering?

Remembrance Day / Veteran's Day Handmade Card

Flanders Field
by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
