I enjoyed this sketch challenge a lot. I really liked the sketch and I found it very easy to follow. Here is what I created.I chose to create my version of the sketch at one turn clockwise and mirrored in the other direction.

Cutie Pie

Silly me, I was so focused on the sketch that I missed the part about numbering your journalling! Ooopsy! I get an ‘F’ for reading comprehension. I re-read the requirements literally minutes after I wrote out my journalling on my layout in permanent pen. I slapped my forehead and groaned out loud. LOL! I should have written out my journalling like this:

5 Things About You at 2 1/2

1. Nobody believes that you’re only 2 1/2.

2. You haven’t changed much since this picture was taken. The main difference is your teeth are bigger now!

3. You are sweet and thoughtful and super outgoing. That hasn’t changed over the years either.

4. I loved you then, and I love you even more now.
~ Mom

Here are some detail shots of my layout.

Crop Chocolate

For the Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge I did the following combination – Include stitching, Create a layout, Include a die-cut.

I used the February Kit from My Scrapbook Nook, which features papers from October Afternoon’s Sasparilla Line. I also used some stamps from My Mind’s Eye’s Follow Your Heart line. These stamps are so versatile! They go with everything. The ‘take note’ stamp is from Jillibean Soup. I also used a lot of Gesso to mute the dark blue background, and I painted my Thickers navy blue. They were originally green, and although they coordinated very well with this paper, I didn’t want to draw out the green in this particular layout. Once the navy paint was dry, I applied Glossy Accents to the Thickers to bring the sheen back.

Pony Express

I cut a piece of the denim paper by October Afternoon to create a ‘jean’ journalling pocket. I stitched around the edge of the pocket with yellow floss to make the pocket look even more like a pocket off a pair of old jeans. The ‘Wild Adventures’ card pulls out to show the journalling. I accented the pocket with more stamps, heat embossed in white, die cuts by October Afternoon and Maya Road, ribbon by Jillibean Soup, a Tim Holtz paper clip and my favourite new embellishment, the star epoxy shape from Epiphany Crafts.

Pony Express 3

I accented the large yellow star die cut below by applying Glossy Accents to it. It acts as a mirror to the Epiphany Crafts star on the opposite side of the page.

Win some October Afternoon Farmhouse at The Paper Variety!

Happy New Year !Time to ring in the new year with a new challenge {and new format!} at The Paper Variety! We hope you’ll join us in our 2012 resolutions to create more :)

Our first January challenge is a color challenge!

That’s right, black and white with a *kiss* of color! Your project should be mostly black and white; with just a “pop” of a third color. Our prize for this challenge is the “Farmhouse” collection by October Afternoon!

Find out more, and enter the challenge over at The Paper Variety! I’m looking forward to seeing what you create!

I really loved this Black & White challenge! Here’s what I created. I just picked up Lily Bee’s Head Over Heels Collection through My Scrapbook Nook’s January Kit and it was so appropriate for a black and white theme! I also used papers by Crate Paper and Pretty Little Studio. To add to the black and white with a splash of colour theme, I edited my photos to black and white, but I left my daughter’s red outfit and her striking blue eyes in colour. Her eyes are so striking as it is, but with this type of treatment, they really stand out! The papers from Pretty Little Studio are digital papers that I downloaded from their Website and printed at home – super convenient!

Love Never Fails

I stamped my red heart with red paint and a foam stamp by Donna Downey on a transparency, and I added it to the layout on the reverse (unstamped side) where the colour was more consistent. I added a bling flourish by Prima on top and wrapped some black twine by May Arts around the heart. I also used Maraschino twine by The Twinery, white ribbon with bling by Harmonie and black and white striped ribbon by My Mind’s Eye. The ribbon slider is from my local scrapbooking store, Scrapbook Queens.

For my journalling, I incorporated the strip from the bottom of the paper into my sentence. The background paper is called “Smitten” from the “Head Over Heels” line, and that became part of my sentence. The rest of the sentence is made up of stickers by Glitz and Basic Grey.

Believe Layout with Authentique, and a Challenge from SYC

We got these pictures taken of our kids with Santa Claus at my husband’s work holiday party. They turned out really well. I’m trying to track down the photographer so that I can get more prints.

I created this layout with one of the pictures. I used Authentique paper’s Wonder collection. I love this Christmas paper line. It’s very pretty and classic. I cut the rosette, ‘Believe’ title and the ‘Merry Christmas’ embellishment with my Silhouette Cameo. The snowflake on top of the rosette was cut with my Sizzix Big Shot with a Tim Holtz die. It is made out of a plastic mirror material.

Crate Everyday Challenge!

I’m so thrilled, I entered the Crate Everyday Challenge challenge this month and was featured on their Blog today! Crate is my favourite paper company, so this is quite the honour for me. The theme was “Thanks” and I am very thankful indeed! I’m going to be smiling ALL DAY!

Here is my layout. I used Crate Paper’s Farmhouse line.

Thankful-for-time-together

Here’s a close up of the doilies and the Twinery twine tied around one of my pictures. The Crate Paper chipboard button is holding the twine in place.  I fussy cut the flowers and used pop dots to give them depth.
standouts

Here you can see the misting in the background a little better. I used a Crafter’s Workshop template and a gold Perfect Pearls Mist on cream cardstock. It’s very subtle, but I needed something subtle to offset the other bold colours.

Thankful for

The doily die cuts behind the Crate Paper rosettes were cut with my Silhouette Cameo.
Thank you for
